Deer Season Rules
Before booking, please review all rules below. By purchasing a ticket you agree to these terms and conditions.
Licensing & Hunting Hours
- All hunters must have a valid VA big game hunting license.
- Hunting hours are one half hour before sunrise to one half hour after sunset.
- Hunters will be dropped off and picked up from their stands by a crew member.
- Tree stands have been checked prior to your drop off — please double check that your stand is secure.
Availability & Scheduling
- Hunts are subject to availability. Current availability is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with possible weekday hunts depending on our schedule.
- If you cannot make a weekend hunt, please contact us and we will do our best to make arrangements.
- Pricing is per hunt / per kill — not per time of day. AM, PM, and All Day hunts are all the same price. Note that certain days may have limited time slots available.
- Hunts are rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, we will address the situation to ensure hunter safety.
Weapon Safety
- Do not load your weapon until you are at your designated stand.
- Please make sure your weapon is empty and open when picked up by a crew member.
- Please pick up your shells after your hunt is over.
Required: Blaze Orange or Blaze Pink
- Per Virginia DWR state law, all hunters must wear a blaze orange or blaze pink hat or solid upper body clothing visible from 360 degrees, or display at least 100 sq. in. of solid blaze material at shoulder level.
- Hunters using an enclosed ground blind must display at least 100 sq. in. of solid blaze material attached to or immediately above the blind — in addition to any worn on the person.
- Any hunter under 18 must be accompanied by a licensed adult hunter age 18 or older at all times on the property.
Pricing & Kill Policy
- Pricing is per hunt and per deer — archery and shotgun tickets available below.
- Any deer shot, retrieved or not, counts as a kill. If blood is found, that is considered a kill.
- There is a one deer limit per hunt, either sex. Please avoid button bucks if possible.
- Hunts are not guaranteed — hunting is hunting.
Waivers & Responsibility
- A signed waiver is required for every individual hunter — per person, not per group or ticket. No hunter will be permitted on the property without a completed waiver on file.
- You are responsible for your kill. We can clean it for an additional fee — add it on the ticket page. You are responsible for disposing of the carcass.
- You are responsible for your own actions. Follow all rules set forth by the state and the preserve.
Stay in Your Stand — No Wandering
Do not leave your stand unless accompanied by staff. If you have shot at a deer or need to leave the hunt for any reason, please contact staff via the chat on this website. Anyone found wandering the property will be asked to leave with no refund — there may be other hunters in the area, restricted zones, dangerous areas, or property lines nearby.
Sign Your Waiver First
All hunters must submit a release form before their hunt.
